Tom Gaines, LEED AP, CEO
Tom has a solid track record of success in business management and business development as well as deep experience with all facets of the commercial construction industry. Having achieved the LEED AP designation, he continues to push to be a thought leader in the industry. Tom has been a construction management professional for 23 years working on complex commercial construction projects and he has been the President of our affiliate Hencken & Gaines since 1997. During his career at Hencken & Gaines Tom has worked in various positions from estimator to project manager until taking overall responsibility for the firm in 1997. Tom is a current Trustee of the Boys’ Latin School of Maryland and is a former board member of the Baltimore Building Congress and Exchange. Tom and his wife Alden live in Roland Park and have three children Carson, Ellie and Evan.
Henry "Hans" Wittich, IV, President
Hans is a seasoned professional with over 20 years experience in business development, management, relationship management, team building, transaction execution and investments. He has gained invaluable business experience through a number of different engagements. He spent ten years in the Commercial Real Estate mortgage business with both a small family owned business and then a large public company. He then was one of the earliest employees and Regional Real Estate Director for a start-up fiber optic telecom company that grew to nearly 200 employees. From there he became part of a small management team that took a privately held hybrid real estate investment trust (REIT) and transformed it into the first REIT focused solely on medical office buildings. Upon its sale to a larger REIT he joined one of his former clients, a Colorado based real estate development and acquisition firm, establishing their east coast office. Prior to his professional career Mr. Wittich graduated with a degree in Economics from Washington College and was awarded his M.B.A. degree in Finance from Loyola College.
John Hencken,LEED AP, NABCEP, Vice President
John's contribution first as project manager, then supervisor and now as vice president has grown as his experience has deepened. John uses a hands-on approach in his current duties which include pv system design, engineering, project management, business development and customer satisfaction. John can be found designing, estimating and engineering large commercial solar systems or actually installing smaller residential photovoltaic systems himself. John is a graduate from James Madison University College of Business, where he graduated with honors a year ahead of schedule. He recently earned the LEED AP designation, and a NABCEP Certification. John and his wife, Melissa, live in Catonsville with their son Elias and his new baby brother Dean.
Charles Grebe, Master Electrician, Project Manager
Charles Grebe is a seasoned construction professional. He's been a master electrician since 1977 and has worked as an electrical foreman, superintendent, and project manager for the past 25 years. Charles and his wife have three children and five grandchildren.
Jill Cashman, Office Manager
If you need something done right away, call Jill. When she’s not managing the office work flow, Jill lives and cruises the Chesapeake Bay on her 53’ Hatteras “Remark IV” with her Cockapoo dog, Maggie, and her husband, Captain John. Her favorite past time, however, is hanging out with her daughter, Kari.
Marcy Piet, Controller
Marcy Piet brings 25 years of accounting experience to her position as controller. Marcy takes great pride in handling our company’s day-to-day accounting. She spends most of her time with her husband, daughter and son. As long as the sun is shining, you’ll catch her sporting around with the top down in her convertible.
John Hoffman, Installation Superintendent
John has vast experience in all phases of residential and commercial construction. Having a keen attention to detail, John always exceeds customers’ expectations. As if he doesn’t stay active enough on the job, he is even busier at home with his boys’ sporting events, working out, and spending time with his wife.
Brandy Perkins, Administration Assistant
Brandy takes on any assignment given with gusto and lends a hand wherever needed. Brandy is always willing to "roll up her sleeves" and tackle any project. She enjoys soccer, crafts, camping and working with her husband on home remodeling projects.
